Story of Lucy

Lucy says “People laughed at me during school days, I used to be so shy to come out of my home. My dad refused permission for everything. He did not allow me to go anywhere. I fought against everyone, and after that I came here. Almost everyone here was like me and I felt so happy. People treated me like a child and they helped me in all the ways they could to make me learn things. Both my legs and my right hand are not functional, but that didn’t stop me from doing something with my life. I am not married but I earn my livelihood: Rs 4500 per month. I complete 20 years of working here, this month. I paint, I do embroidery, patch work, mirror work and cross stitch. This has given me an independent life”
